  • Gene Delivery
  • Nanotechnology

Background:

  • Polyethyleneimine (PEI) is a versatile cationic polymer used for DNA delivery in cell culture and in vivo.
  • Current PEI applications include surface-bound PEI and PEI/DNA microparticles for transfection.
  • Further development is needed to optimize PEI-based gene delivery systems.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and evaluate PEI-coated microspheres for enhanced DNA delivery.
  • To investigate the cellular uptake and intracellular fate of PEI-coated microspheres.
  • To explore surface modifications for improved transfection efficiency.

Main Methods:

  • Preparation of microspheres using poly(epsilon-CBZ-L-lysine) and poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) via double-emulsification/solvent evaporation.
