    Background:

    • Hypercholesterolemia is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the dose-related efficacy and safety of rosuvastatin in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
    • To compare the LDL-C lowering potential of rosuvastatin with existing statins.

    Main Methods:

    • A 2-stage, placebo-controlled, Phase 2 dose-ranging trial.
    • Participants included men and postmenopausal women with hypercholesterolemia.
    • Rosuvastatin doses ranged from 1 to 80 mg/day, with dose doubling increments.
