Abstract:
About 100 years after the definition of the basic principles of inflammation, the identification of the underlying molecular mechanisms provides a new understanding of the inflammatory response. The specificity and diversity of the adhesion molecules involved in leukocyte extravasation account for the ordered leukocyte recruitment and activation in inflammation.
