Summary

Contact transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (DLPC) effectively lowers intra-ocular pressure (IOP) in refractory glaucoma patients. This treatment also reduces medication needs and is relatively safe, though multiple sessions may be required.

  • To evaluate the efficacy of contact transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (DLPC).
  • To assess the impact of DLPC on intra-ocular pressure (IOP) and visual acuity in refractory glaucoma.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 36 patients (37 eyes) with refractory glaucoma underwent DLPC.
  • Follow-up averaged 14 months, analyzing IOP, visual acuity, and complications.

  • Mean IOP decreased from 33.1 mmHg pre-treatment to 21 mmHg post-treatment.
