Summary

The sliding hip screw (SHS) is preferable for treating extracapsular hip fractures due to lower risks of implant breakage and fixation failure compared to fixed nail plates. More research is needed to compare SHS with other implants like the RAB plate, Pugh nail, and Medoff plate.
