    Background:

    • Invasive cervical resorption (ICR) is a destructive external root resorption often following dental trauma.
    • It can present with subtle clinical signs like pink discoloration or enamel cavitation, but is often detected radiographically.
    • The condition involves fibrovascular tissue invading the root, resorbing dentine, enamel, and cementum, with the pulp protected until late stages.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the predisposing factors and treatment outcomes of invasive cervical resorption.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of trichloracetic acid, curettage, endodontic therapy, and glass ionomer cement for ICR treatment.

    Main Methods:

    • A study analyzed 257 teeth in 222 patients with ICR.
    • Predisposing factors including trauma, bleaching, orthodontics, and delayed eruption were assessed.
    • A clinical evaluation treated 101 teeth in 94 patients using trichloracetic acid, curettage, endodontic therapy, and glass ionomer cement, with a minimum three-year follow-up.

    Main Results:

    • Trauma alone was a sole predisposing factor in 14% of patients and 15.1% of teeth.
    • Orthodontics was the most common sole predisposing factor (21.2% of patients, 24.1% of teeth).
    • Treatment outcomes were satisfactory for Class 1, 2, and 3 ICR cases.
