Area of Science:

  • Immunology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Hepatology

Background:

  • Sclerosing cholangitis is a complex biliary disease.
  • Immunologic abnormalities can manifest in various systemic conditions.

Observation:

  • A 48-year-old male presented with jaundice and lymphadenopathy.
  • Diagnostic evaluations revealed sclerosing cholangitis and elevated polyclonal IgG levels.

Findings:

  • Complete resolution of cholangiographic findings, lymphadenopathy, and hypergammaglobulinemia was observed.
  • Prednisolone treatment led to the successful remission of all presenting symptoms.

Implications:

  • This case highlights a potential association between sclerosing cholangitis and immune system dysfunction.
