Background:

  • Chronic otitis media (COM) often necessitates surgical intervention, including tympanoplasty.
  • Residual or recurrent conductive hearing loss may occur post-tympanoplasty, sometimes requiring further surgical evaluation.
  • Stapedectomy is a primary treatment for otosclerosis but its role in COM post-tympanoplasty is less defined.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the efficacy of stapedectomy in patients with a history of tympanoplasty for COM.
  • To evaluate hearing outcomes, specifically air-bone gap (ABG) closure and pure tone average (PTA), after stapedectomy in this patient cohort.
