Purulent meningitis in infancy and childhood
Abstract:
Clinical features, humoral immunity and EEG findings in infants and children suffering from purulent meningitis are discussed on the basis of data collected in the last 10 years. Purulent meningitis is a grave disease with a bad prognosis and a mortality rate of 47 and 12% in infancy and in childhood, respectively. Beyond the importance of early diagnosis and adequate treatment, the use of immunological tests and EEG findings in emphasized.
