Background:

  • Extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) of UC can affect various organ systems.

Observation:

  • A 50-year-old male presented with acute respiratory distress and bloody diarrhea.
  • Endoscopic evaluation revealed colonic inflammation and ulcerations diagnostic of UC.
  • Bronchoscopic examination demonstrated severe inflammation and fibrinopurulent debris in the trachea and bronchi.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and concurrent fulminant tracheobronchitis.
  • Pulmonary pathology was strongly suspected to be an extraintestinal manifestation of UC.
