Summary

In Peruvian children, a persistent cough, fever, and a positive tuberculosis skin test (PPD) strongly predict pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). These symptoms, unlike those in developed countries, indicate active disease and aid in diagnosing PTB in this population.
