Area of Science:

  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Vascular Radiology
  • Diagnostic Imaging

Background:

  • Hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms are uncommon but serious complications of liver trauma.
  • Pediatric liver trauma requires specialized diagnostic and management approaches.

Observation:

  • A case of traumatic hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm in a 9-year-old child is presented.
  • Diagnosis was established using duplex sonography and helical CT angiography.
  • Arteriography confirmed the pseudoaneurysm and guided treatment.

Findings:

  • Duplex sonography and CT angiography are effective for diagnosing traumatic hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms in children.
  • Transcatheter embolization successfully managed the hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm.
