Hounsfield unit density in the determination of urinary stone composition

Noncontrast computed tomography (NCCT) can distinguish calcium from uric acid urinary stones using HU density, but not other types. This radiodensity measurement improves accuracy over Hounsfield units alone for in vivo stone analysis.
