Anatomical considerations of the ankle
Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
|August 14, 2001
Abstract:
A complete knowledge of the complex anatomy of the ankle joint and surrounding soft tissue structures is vital for the ankle surgeon. Optimal incision site placement provides the surgeon with direct visualization of all structures that need to be inspected and avoids the vital structures that might be encountered. The surgeon with a thorough understanding of ankle anatomy can avoid possible complications associated with poor incision placement.
