Chagas disease, or American trypanosomiasis, is a vector-borne parasitic infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, a flagellated protozoan (kinetoplastid) of the family Trypanosomatidae. Summary

Effective Chagas disease control requires identifying triatomine vectors. This study maps 15 species in Ecuador, revealing native diversity and suggesting targeted eradication of invasive Triatoma dimidiata and isolated Rhodnius ecuadoriensis populations is feasible.
