Summary

A case of molluscum contagiosum presented unusually as a cheek abscess in an HIV-positive man. Electron microscopy confirmed the poxvirus infection, highlighting rare clinical manifestations.

  • This case represents an unusual clinical presentation of molluscum contagiosum.
  • Reviewing literature on atypical molluscum contagiosum presentations is important for diagnosis.
