Summary

A rare myxoid liposarcoma presented as a vulval soft tissue mass in a young woman. Complete surgical resection is recommended, but routine lymph node excision is not advised.

Observation:

  • A 26-year-old woman presented with a 4-year history of a gradually enlarging, fluctuant mass on the left labium majus.
  • Histologic examination of the excised mass revealed myxoid liposarcoma.

Findings:

  • Myxoid liposarcoma was diagnosed in a young woman presenting with a vulval mass.
  • Complete surgical resection was performed for definitive treatment.
  • Routine excision of draining lymph nodes is not advocated for this condition.

Implications:

  • Myxoid liposarcoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of vulval soft tissue masses.
  • Accurate histologic diagnosis is crucial for appropriate management.
  • Surgical strategy should focus on complete tumor resection while avoiding unnecessary procedures like lymph node dissection.
