Oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) defects are common in Hereditary Spastic Paraplegias (HSPs), a group of neurodegenerative disorders. Muscle biopsy studies revealed OXPHOS alterations in most patients, suggesting a broader role for these defects in HSP.
