This case study details a 14-year-old boy with post-traumatic high-flow priapism. Superselective embolization of the internal pudendal artery successfully resolved the condition.

Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Vascular Radiology

Background:

  • Post-traumatic priapism is a rare condition, often resulting from injury to the penile vasculature.
  • High-flow priapism involves abnormal arterial inflow into the corpora cavernosa, leading to prolonged erections.

Observation:

  • A 14-year-old male presented with symptoms of high-flow priapism following trauma.
  • Diagnostic confirmation included cavernous blood gas analysis, color Doppler ultrasonography, and arteriography.

Findings:

  • Arteriography identified an abnormal connection involving the right internal pudendal artery.
  • Superselective embolization of the affected artery was performed as the treatment modality.

Implications:
