Background:

  • Neurophysiological methods are crucial for understanding brain function during and after TGA.

Observation:

  • A TGA patient underwent Magnetoencephalography (MEG) and Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R) testing.
  • Tests were conducted 5 days and over a month post-TGA episode.
  • MEG analyzed neuronal activity during working memory tasks and rest using wavelet-crosscorrelation.

Findings:

  • WMS-R memory scores significantly improved after one month.
  • No significant changes were noted in EEG, MRI, or SPECT data.
  • MEG revealed impaired functional neuronal activity and information propagation in the right hemisphere shortly after TGA.

Implications:

  • MEG offers insights into the functional brain deficits following TGA.
  • Working memory function in the right hemisphere may be particularly affected by TGA.
  • Longitudinal neurophysiological assessment can track recovery post-TGA.
