A chronically implantable gallbladder cannula for dogs

A gallbladder cannula suitable for chronic implantation in the dog is described. The device is simple to operate, inexpensive to construct, durable, and easy to implant. With the cannula in place, measurements of hepatic and biliary drug kinetics, as well as enterohepatic function, in the awake nonstressed animal are possible. Minimal postoperative care is required after implantation of the device.
