Insights
A new surgical technique for Hirschsprung
Area of Science:
- Pediatric Surgery
- Gastrointestinal Surgery
- Surgical Innovation
Context:
- Hirschsprung's disease involves the removal of the aganglionar segment of the intestine.
- Current treatments may have complications.
- A novel surgical approach is proposed.
Purpose:
- To present a new surgical method for treating Hirschsprung's disease.
- To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the proposed technique.
Summary:
- The developed method involves resecting the affected intestinal segment and creating an oblique termino-terminal colorectal anastomosis.
- The procedure utilizes a parasacral-perineal approach for resection and anastomosis.
- This technique aims for complete aganglionar site removal and optimal healing conditions.
Impact:
- The novel surgical approach for Hirschsprung's disease demonstrated no immediate or remote complications in 7 patients.
- This method potentially reduces postoperative complications by ensuring complete aganglionar tissue removal and favorable anastomosis conditions.
Abstract:
Developed method of treatment of Hirschsprung's disease lies in removal of injured part of the intestine and establishment of oblique termino-terminal colorectal anastomosis between pull through colon and rectum resected from parasacral-perineal approach. Proposed method ensures complete removal of aganglionar site, favorable conditions for anastomosis and healing that decrease probability of postoperative complications. Operation was performed in 7 patients. There were no immediate and remote complications.
