Summary

Extra-intestinal Clostridium difficile infections are rare, occurring in about 1% of isolates. These infections, often polymicrobial, can happen without typical symptoms and their clinical significance requires careful interpretation.

    • Further research is needed to fully understand the role of C. difficile in non-intestinal infections.
