Summary

Mini-laparoscopic cholecystectomy (MLC) is safe and effective for uncomplicated gallstone removal. This minimally invasive approach offers reduced postoperative pain and improved cosmetic outcomes compared to conventional laparoscopic surgery.

Background:

Assessing the safety and efficacy of mini-laparoscopic cholecystectomy (MLC).
Focus on uncomplicated surgical scenarios for gallstone removal.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the feasibility and outcomes of MLC.
Compare MLC with conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).

Main Methods:

MLC performed on 30 patients using one 12-mm and three 3-mm ports.
Comparison with 30 conventional LC cases.
Evaluation of operating time, conversion rate, pain, hospital stay, complications, and cosmetic results.

Main Results:

No conversions to open surgery in either group.

Similar operating times and hospital stays between MLC and LC.

Significantly lower postoperative pain in the MLC group (p < 0.001).

Higher patient satisfaction with cosmetic results in the MLC group (p < 0.05).

Conclusions:

MLC is a feasible option for uncomplicated cholecystectomy.
MLC demonstrates advantages in reduced pain and enhanced cosmetic outcomes over LC.
Further randomized trials are recommended to validate these findings.
