Abstract:
The work of prison medical service in the period between the First and Second World Wars is presented on the basis of a 140 bed prison hospital in Białystok. The health service required a great deal from the physicians in return rewarding them with trust and high salaries. The medical care as regards sick prisoners was of a very high standard.
