[Biographical notice on Jean Sedillot Le Jeune (1757-1840)]
Abstract:
The author relates the main facts of Jean Sédillot junior's life and work. This man coming from a generation of doctors in medicine gives a good example of a certain type of eighteen century's surgeons doctors well trained by the Royal Academy of Surgery attested by the excellence of his knowledge on surgery and medicine also, for he was a former doctor at Rheims University so it is not a surprise to find him as a promoter of the medicine Society of Paris and later as the editor of the of the well known newspaper usually called "Le Journal de Sédillot", the first post-revolutionary newspaper which is the best image of early 19th century surgical and medical knowledge and also perhaps the precursor of future monthly newspapers with acute glances on foreign literature about medicine and surgery.
