[Johannes de Laet and his vision of the New World]

Highlighting the contribution of Johannes De Laet (1582-1649), naturalist, historian, researcher, to the knowledge of the New World history and geography, as well as its inhabitants, flora and fauna. Laet published his huge New World or Description of the Occidental Indies in Dutch (1625), Latin (1633) and French (1640). The first Spanish edition appeared in 1988 in Venezuela, edited by the author of this work.
