Abstract:
The recent advances in the knowledge of the pathophysiology of asthma have led to a significant improvement of drug therapy for asthma. At present, inhaled steroids, bronchodialators including beta 2-agonists and xanthine derivatives, and leukotriene inhibitors are most effective and important drugs for the therapy of asthma. But there are still some problems in the treatment of the severe asthma by drugs. The present manuscript describes the expansion of the experimentally available agents, some of which will probably come into clinical application for the management of asthma in the near feature.
