    Area of Science:

    • Oncology
    • Surgical Pathology
    • Radiology

    Background:

    • Retroperitoneal neurilemomas are uncommon, typically asymptomatic tumors that grow large and degenerate cystically.
    • Clinical presentation may include a palpable flank mass, with imaging often showing renal or ureteral deviation and avascular masses.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To report two unique cases of suprarenal neurilemoma, a site not previously documented in medical literature.
    • To review the existing literature on retroperitoneal neurilemomas.

    Main Methods:

    • Case report analysis of two patients with suprarenal neurilemoma.
    • Review of relevant medical literature concerning retroperitoneal neurilemomas.

    Main Results:

    • Two cases of suprarenal neurilemoma were identified: one in a two-year-old child and another in a fifty-two-year-old man.
    • The case in the adult patient benefited from a thoracoabdominal surgical approach.

    Conclusions:

    • Suprarenal neurilemoma represents a newly identified location for this rare tumor type.
    • Diagnostic imaging (excretory urography, arteriography) can aid in identifying retroperitoneal masses.
    • Surgical approach, such as thoracoabdominal, may be crucial for large or challenging tumors.
