Abstract:
Recent studies on nitric oxide (NO) have shown its role in the pathophysiology of arterial hypertension. It is assumed that hypertension may be caused by hypofunction of NO due to its inactivation by endogenous inhibitors of NO-synthase (NOS), and superoxide production. New therapeutic interventions in hypertension using superoxide dismutases (SOD) are proposed.
