Japanese men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) have significantly less stromal tissue and more glandular lumen compared to Caucasian-American and African-American men. These differences in BPH cellular composition may explain racial variations in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and BPH incidence.
