Background:

Fetal surgery's development is intrinsically linked to prenatal diagnostic capabilities.
Advances in imaging, amniotic fluid sampling, and molecular genetics have revolutionized prenatal diagnosis of congenital diseases.
Historically, prenatal diagnosis revealed congenital malformations, but intervention options were limited.

Observation:

Prenatal diagnosis has unveiled fetal conditions, enabling better management strategies.
While most congenital malformations are managed postnatally, a subset of simple anatomic defects may benefit from fetal surgery.
