Summary

Essential thrombocythemia can cause multiple, independent retinal vein occlusions in both eyes. This case highlights a prothrombotic tendency in the retinal circulation of patients with this blood disorder.

Findings:

  • The patient exhibited bilateral, temporally and spatially independent retinal vein occlusions.
  • Peripheral retinal capillary dropout was observed in the right eye.
