Summary

Ischemic leukoaraiosis, a marker of vascular dementia, shows white matter changes on diffusion tensor MRI. These changes correlate with executive dysfunction, offering better insight than conventional MRI.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate white matter changes in patients with ischemic leukoaraiosis using DT-MRI.
  • To explore the correlation between these white matter changes and cognitive dysfunction, specifically executive function.

  • Diffusion tensor MRI was used to assess white matter integrity.
  • Thirty patients diagnosed with ischemic leukoaraiosis were compared to 17 age-matched healthy control subjects.
