Abstract:
The study of the diary written by the Chief Medical Officer of the French Infantry 34th Division's stretcher-bearers kept in the Château de Vincennes historical records as well as the personal documentation he bequeathed enable us to answer to the question: Did the planning of the Military Medical Service induced impediment to wounded men's fast evacuation to rear hospitals? The horrifying overcrowding and, time to time, precarious or inadequate materials led to a flop. But, the study shows that, from year to year, the performance accelerated, then increasing most chances to survive for wounded.
