Prevalence of psychological, somatic, and conduct casualties in war

Combat stress reactions (CSR) have been a common occurrence in the wars of this century. This article reviews data and research on CSR and summarizes the different factors, which correlate with the frequency and the type of CSRs seen. Suggestions for planning for weapons of mass destruction events that are made based on the projected similarities between CSRs seen during combat and those that might be expected following a weapons of mass destruction event.
