HELD: The proposed operation to separate conjoined twins resulting in the death of one of the twins is lawful. Although Mary's death is foreseeable as an inevitable consequence of the operation, the invasive surgery is intended and necessary to save Jodie's life. Mary's death is not a purpose or intention of the surgery, and she will die only because her body, on its own, was never viable.
