St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum)--is it safe during breastfeeding?

St. John's wort is commonly used for postnatal depression, but its safety in breast milk is unknown. This study found low levels of hyperforin in breast milk, with no detectable hypericin or hyperforin in infant plasma, suggesting potential safety but requiring further research.
