Summary

Aquagenic syringeal acrokeratoderma is a rare, transient skin condition causing palm whitening and thickening after water exposure. Symptoms resolve quickly upon drying, with new cases adding to the limited documented instances.

Background:

The condition, initially termed aquagenic palmoplantar keratoderma, is a rare dermatological finding.
First described in 1996, only 8 cases were previously reported.
This report details two new cases of acquired aquagenic syringeal acrokeratoderma.

Observation:

Patients experienced transient, painful palm whitening and thickening within minutes of water contact.
Skin changes, including prominent eccrine pores, resolved within an hour of drying.
One patient reported peeling white skin and subsequent hyperhidrosis and palmar redness.

Findings:

Acquired aquagenic syringeal acrokeratoderma presents as a temporary, water-induced palmar keratoderma.
The condition is characterized by rapid onset after water exposure and quick resolution upon drying.
