[Heterophoria and effect of plus lens on it in juvenile myopes]

Objective:
To study the heterophoria and effect of plus lens on it in juvenile myopes.
Methods:
The amount of heterophoria on near (33 cm) fixation was respectively determined without and with correcting spectacles, and with correcting spectacles combined with an additional + 1.50 D lens in 151 students with different refractive state.
Results:
It was liable to have exophoria in the myopic group without correcting lens. The amount of exophoria declined with correcting lens, and it increased again when a + 1.50 D lens was added to the correction.
Conclusions:
From the viewpoint of the coordination between accommodation and convergence, it is indicated that juvenile myopes generally should wear correcting spectacles, and be careful to use plus lens.
