[Oral care in irradiated patients]

A group of 152 dentate patients who had been irradiated in the head and neck area, has been studied for several aspects of oral care. One third of them (34%) was referred for the first oral screening after radiotherapy had started. In spite of intensive oral and dental care during and after radiotherapy, several complications occurred. More valid methods are necessary to evaluate oral care in patients who are subject to head and neck radiotherapy.
