CD4(+) T cells specific to a glomerular basement membrane antigen mediate glomerulonephritis

Antigen-specific CD4(+) T cells, not antibodies, directly cause glomerulonephritis (GN). These T cells target the Col4alpha3NC1 antigen, leading to kidney injury and proteinuria in rats.
