Background:

The European Society of Applied Cytology (ESACP) convened experts to update consensus on diagnostic DNA image cytometry.
This report builds upon previous consensus documents from 1997 and earlier.

Framework:

Review and update definitions from the 1997 consensus.
Detail basic terms, principles, and algorithms for diagnostic interpretation.
Provide recommendations for diagnostic and prognostic applications in tumor pathology.

Implementation:

The 4th updated Consensus Report was agreed upon during the 7th International Congress of the ESACP in Caen, 2001.
The report focuses on standardizing diagnostic DNA image cytometry procedures.

Enhances clarity and consistency in the application of DNA image cytometry.
