Summary

This case report details a rare urothelial neoplasm found in an inguinal bladder hernia. Advanced CT imaging accurately identified the hernia and tumor extension.

Background:

Bladder hernias are uncommon and rarely diagnosed preoperatively.
Neoplasms within bladder hernias are exceptionally rare occurrences.

Observation:

A direct bladder hernia was identified in the inguinal canal.
A urothelial neoplasm was found originating within this hernia.

Findings:

Spiral computed tomography (CT) with gaseous bladder insufflation provided superior visualization.
This technique accurately delineated the bladder hernia and the inguinal neoplasm's extent.
Compared favorably to nonopacified and iodinated urine CT methods.

Implications:

Highlights the importance of considering rare diagnoses in unusual presentations.
