Abstract:
About one in eight elderly people living in residential care homes will be known to have diabetes. Lack of appropriate training for care home staff is an important barrier to improved care for this vulnerable and neglected group. A multidisciplinary, multi-agency group have begun to address this problem with a district-wide diabetes education programme for care home staff.
