Abstract:
The use of a questionnaire in a TMD-clinic seems to be a useful aid in diagnosis and treatment of patients with TMD. By using such a questionnaire, it becomes clear which patients have to be advised to attend to psychosocial factors. Besides, the completion of the questionnaire before the first clinical examination often changes the opinion of patients about their complaints. The possible role of psychosocial factors is introduced gradually, and thereby, patients are more receptive to learn adaptive, coping strategies.
