Summary

Detecting impaired drivers at lower blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) requires reliable field tests. Horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) from the standardized field sobriety test (SFST) effectively identifies drivers with BACs between 0.04% and 0.08%.
