Proinflammatory cytokines in open versus laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Summary
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy shows lower levels of the proinflammatory cytokine Interleukin-6 compared to open cholecystectomy. This minimal access surgery is associated with reduced inflammatory response post-operation.
