Warfarin usage in Alaska: a quality improvement study

This study represents a snapshot view of a possible area for quality improvement work. We realize that a variety of events may have contributed to the deaths that occurred in our study cohort. In addition, the small number of cases reviewed precludes the formulation of conclusive statements regarding warfarin use in Alaska. Nevertheless, we are reporting the results in the hope of raising awareness in the Alaska medical community about the use of warfarin in treating atrial fibrillation and the benefits this therapy may have for the elderly patient.
