[Diagnostic laparotomy and splenectomy in lymphogranulomatosis in children]

Diagnostic laparotomy and splenectomy have been performed in 19 children suffering lymphogranulomatosis (13 primary patients, 6--treated previously). In 11 of 19 children (56%) lymphogranulomatous foci were revealed, these would not be recognized by methods of a preoperative exploration, in 9 cases splenic involvement being noted (in 7 cases--in association with the involvement of splenic lymph nodes), in 2--solitary involvement of splenic lymph nodes. In primary patients the frequency of such findings was higher. Some complications are described. The operative procedures concerned are stated to be of great informative value.
